Summary
Eliot Falls Campground is located in Cape York and is one of the most popular campsites on the way to the top of Australia. This campround was one of Michelle and the boys favourite spot in Cape York.
Fast Facts
– There are 31 numbered sites at Eliot Falls consisting of 16 tent sites, nine sites suitable for off-road campervans or camper trailers and six commercial operator sites
– Campsites are available for tents, campervans or camper trailers. Separate areas for commercial operators are provided. Car parking is provided adjacent to each site
– open fires are allowed (except when fire bans apply) in existing fireplaces only. Do not collect firewood from the national park. Fuel stoves are recommended.
– mobile phone coverage is not available
– essential items to bring are adequate food and drinking water, rubbish bags, insect repellent, screened tents or mosquito nets, a fuel stove, adequate fuel and spare parts for your vehicle
– drinking water, hybrid toilets, picnic tables and individual fire rings.
Getting there:
The camping area can only be reached by four-wheel-drive vehicles and off-road campervans and camper trailers. It is not accessible for caravans or conventional buses.
Eliot Falls Campground is close to the northern boundary of Heathlands Regional Park, at the joining of Canal and Eliot creeks.
Sites
The sites are dirt / gravel and well maintained. A few of them has tables and firepits. Drinkable water taps are scattered throughout the campground.
Most of the sites are well shaded.

What we disliked most about the park
Not much that we didnt like about this campground.
What the kids liked most about the park
The kids loved swimming at the waterfalls that were a 10 minute walk from the campround.
What the kids disliked most about the park
There wasn’t much the kids disliked. Perhaps that they had to walk 10 minutes for a swim.
